Grandson of ex-President Nazarbayev appears in London court

AKIPRESS.COM - The Royal Court in London heard a preliminary case of a 28-year-old Aisultan Nazarbayev - grandson of the former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, BBC reported. Aisultan Nazarbayev is accused of resisting police officers, attacking and biting one of the policemen under the influence of drugs.
Aisultan is son of Dariga Nazarbayeva, the elder daughter of ex-president and his deceased son-in-law Rakhat Aliyev.
The pre-trial hearing on Nazarbayev's case started on June 4. The proceeding is open for media. The defendant is now under arrest. He is pleading not guilty.
According to a prosecutor, Aisultan on July 3 went wild in one of the hotels in the center of London.
He attempted to jump off the balcony and cried that he will commit suicide.
The second time Aisultan behaved aggressively in one of the London apartments. He again threatened to commit suicide and attacked the policemen, who were called by neighbors.
Thus, Aisultan is accused of harming to people and causing property damage.
The prosecutor said the defendant is cocaine positive, which caused aggressive behavior. Passport of Aisultan is seized by police. The prosecutor noted that his high-ranking family might help him obtain a diplomatic passport to escape the UK and called on court not allow them to do so.
