Bishkek, July 11, 2019. /Kabar/. According to preliminary estimates, gross domestic product of Kyrgyzstan in January-June 2019 has amounted to more than KGS 232 billion and increased by 6.4% compared to the same period in 2018, the press service of the National Statistics Committee reported.
Excluding the Kumtor mine development enterprises, GDP in January-June 2019 amounted to more than KGS 207 billion and increased by 2.1%.
The increase in industrial production, compared to January-June 2018 was due to increase in the production of basic metals by 51.2%, in metal ores by 44.3%, in the extraction of coal by 22.6%, in crude oil and natural gas by 14.1%, and in the production of textiles by 15.3%.
At the same time, there was a decrease in the production of oil products by 32.7%, pharmaceutical and chemical products by 18.3% and 4.2%, respectively, as well as clothing by 11.8%.
The volume of providing electricity, gas and steam decreased by 3.1% due to a decrease in production by 2.3% and distribution by 5.8%. Without Kumtor’s development facilities, production decreased by 4.2%.
Growth of gross output of agricultural products, compared to January-June 2018 was mainly due to the increase in production of livestock products by 2%.
Growth of investments in fixed assets, compared to January-June 2018, was noted in the construction of mining, water supply, treatment, waste treatment, wholesale and retail trade, hotels and restaurants, real estate, health care and social services, as well as housing construction.
Investments from internal sources, decreased by 4.5 per cent, while those from external sources increased by 40 per cent. The bulk of investment in January-June 2019 (about 81% of the total) was directed to the construction of facilities for mining, water supply, purification, waste treatment, transportation, wholesale and retail trade, as well as housing construction.
The largest increase in wages was in mining (12%), construction (8.9%), professional, scientific and technical activities (8.2%), public administration and defense, mandatory social security (7.0%), real estate operations (6.7%), as well as the provision (supply) of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (5.8%).
