Bishkek, July 17, 2019. / Kabar /. The second Silk Road mountain race will be held in Kyrgyzstan, on Aug. 17 - 31, with the assistance of the Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to data of the Ministry, this year 148 cyclists from 27 different countries will take part in the Silk Road mountain race.
The Silk Road mountain race, a one-step, unsupported mountain bike race – has been held annually during the last two weeks of August.
During 1705 kilometers of race, the cyclists themselves will have to carry their equipment and find food, water and everything they need in cities and villages along the route. External assistance will not be provided.
Each cyclist will carry a GPS tracker that will transmit a position every few minutes. This data will be displayed on the Race Card, which will show viewers the exact position of the cyclists and allow them to follow the race.
There will also be a podcast in English, which will include interviews with racers and other race content, as well as additional information about Kyrgyzstan, culture, etc.
