Bishkek, July 19, 2019. /Kabar/. Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Kosmosbek Cholponbayev met with Jean-Olivier Schmidt, the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) Promotion of the Perinatal Health Assistance in Kyrgyzstan project head on the occasion of the completion of his mission.
The press service of the Health Ministry reported that, during the meeting the minister expressed gratitude for contribution to the development of the health care system and noted the main achievements of joint cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the GIZ, especially emphasized the Perinatal Health Assistance in Kyrgyzstan project, birth care program, and also decorated Jean-Olivier Schmidt with the Honorary Health Worker badge.
"We have worked with you for more than three years to promote health in Kyrgyzstan. Under your leadership, a great deal of work has been done. In partnership, we have achieved a lot, we have started the construction of a perinatal center that will meet international standards, developed a mobile application within the framework of digitalization of medicine, formed the basis for a qualitative leap in the direction of introduction of modern information technologies in motherhood and childhood. In the future, all this will contribute to raising the standards of medical care to the population," Cholponbayev said.
Jean-Olivier Schmidt thanked the minister and noted that he had experience in different countries, but the experience he gained in Kyrgyzstan was special. "Here, I saw the dedication of the country's health workers. We have started to achieve good results in the team with you, the progress is already visible, and I am a little sad to leave such a team. I would like to wish you success and thank you for your fruitful cooperation," Schmidt said.
Since the early 1990s, GIZ has been implementing programs and projects in Kyrgyzstan for sustainable economic development in the areas of education and health, environment and climate protection.
