Kyrgyz Parliament speaker meets with speaker of Saudi Arabia’s Consultative Assembly

Bishkek, July 22, 2019. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov met with Speaker of the Majlis ash-Shura (Consultative Assembly) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament said.
Dzhumabekov welcomed the delegation of Saudi Arabia led by Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh and said that in recent years, there are intensification of political contacts at high levels and summits between the two countries, as well as within the framework of inter-parliamentary cooperation.
The Kyrgyz speaker expressed confidence that this visit will be very fruitful and gives an additional impetus to the further development and strengthening of bilateral relations.
He noted that a positive factor, contributing to the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries was the participation of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov in the OIC Summit in Mecca on May 31 of this year and the working visit of Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziyev to Saudi Arabia.
"Kyrgyz-Saudi political, as well as economic relations received new impetus for further development during the high-level meetings held in the first half of this year. Saudi Arabia is showing interest in intensifying cooperation with Kyrgyzstan, which will allow us to build positive relations in the future," the speaker said.
In the course of the meeting, Speaker Dzhumabekov also noted that due to the lack of direct transport connections, the trade and economic potential of both countries is not fully used. He proposed to fill this gap by expanding trade and economic relations.
The Kyrgyz official recalled that the second meeting of the joint Kyrgyz-Saudi Cooperation Committee is scheduled for September 2019 in Bishkek, during which there is need to discuss the most important areas of bilateral cooperation, in particular, the strengthening of trade, economic and investment cooperation.
In turn, Speaker of Consultative Assembly of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh thanked Dzhumabekov for a warm welcome.
"This visit was particularly interesting for us because we have great respect for your country. The leaders of our countries have developed friendly relations. The Embassy of Saudi Arabia also makes a significant contribution to the development of cooperation in many areas, as well as actively developing our parliamentary cooperation," he said.
The Speaker of the Consultative Assembly noted that they support at a high level charitable actions for Muslims, solve the issue of providing scholarships for Kyrgyz students studying in Saudi Arabia.
The meeting was held in a friendly and trusting atmosphere.
