Bishkek, July 26, 2019. /Kabar/. The infant and maternal mortality rates and the incidence of tuberculosis in Kyrgyzstan continue to decline, Kosmosbek Cholponbayev, the Minister of Health said at the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
The infant mortality rate for the first 6 months of 2019 was 15.1 per 1,000 live births. The maternal mortality rate decreased to 33.0 per 100,000 live births (in 2018 this indicator made 33.6).
"According to preliminary data, in the first half of 2019, 2 thousand 93 new cases of tuberculosis were registered in the country, and the level of new TB cases decreased by 729 people," he stressed.
Anti-tuberculosis drugs for the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis have been purchased for 2020 in the amount of KGS 15 million, which is 15% of the coverage of the need for second-line anti-tuberculosis drugs at the expense of the state budget," said the minister.
He also noted that the main causes of mortality in Kyrgyzstan continue to be cardiovascular diseases. "They occupy the leading place in the structure of the causes of mortality, amounting to 52.1% (in 2018 - 52.7)," he added.
