Minister Aidarbekov receives newly appointed UNICEF representative in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Aug.1, 2019. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov received Christine Jolme, the newly appointed representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Kyrgyzstan on the occasion of her appointment.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that Jolme presented to Aidarbekov a letter of credence from the UNICEF management on her appointment.
The minister congratulated Christine Jolme on her appointment and wished her success in new position, expressing hope for further fruitful cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UNICEF.
The sides discussed promising areas of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UNICEF, in particular, projects aimed at protecting the rights and interests of children.
Chingiz Aidarbekov noted the importance of returning the children of the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who are in Iraq. "We are working with the competent authorities of the country on this. Children should not suffer from the situation. And we count on UNICEF's help in this regard," he said.
In turn, Jolme thanked the Kyrgyz side for the intention to organize the return of children from Iraq, and expressed the readiness of the organization to support this initiative. She noted the need to study the experience of other countries in returning children and the importance of integrating children into society after their return.
Aidarbekov also expressed gratitude to the UNICEF for its support in the return of children (citizens of Kyrgyzstan) in Iraq and expressed hope that UNICEF would assist in their reintegration.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), originally known as the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, was created by the United Nations General Assembly on 11 December 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children and mothers in countries that had been devastated by World War II.
