AKIPRESS.COM - Most of the delegations of the armed Syrian opposition during the Astana peace talks agreed on ceasefire in de-escalation zone of Idlib, Director of the Department of Asia and Africa of the Mininstry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Erzhan Mukash told a briefing.
According to him, a cessation of hostilities has entered into force.
"It's one thing, when the government and the armed opposition, but another is when there are other terrorist organizations - IS, Al-Qaeda (banned in Kazakhstan). Their hands are untied and they might not comply with ceasefire. But the most part of the opposition, which is here, agree," Mukash said.
A Syrian TV channel has announced about a ceasefire in Idlib from Friday during the Syrian peace talks in Nur-Sultan. In this regard, the two sides must follow the agreement from September 2018, which implies militants moving away for 20 km from de-militarized zone and release of the heavy artillery.
According to special representative of Russia Alexander Lavrentiev, the delegation has welcomed decision of the Syrian government on establishment of peace and the readiness of the opposition side to implement the agreement terms.
