President Sooronbai Jeenbekov held a meeting of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic today. The Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration reported.
The head of state noted that Almazbek Atambayev rudely flouted the Constitution and laws of the Kyrgyz Republic, having strongly opposed investigative measures carried out within the law.
Sooronbai Jeenbekov stressed that Kyrgyzstan is a law-governed state. The duty of the state is to ensure strict compliance with the requirements of the law by all citizens.
The members of the Security Council have been tasked with the implementation of all measures to preserve the rule of law, peace and security in the country, and therefore urgent measures must be taken.
The Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Orozbek Opumbayev, Minister of Internal Affairs Kashkar Dzhunushaliev, Prosecutor General of the Kyrgyz Republic Otkurbek Dzhamshitov provided information on the current situation.
Yesterday night, special forces of the SCNS attempted to detain the former president of the country Almazbek Atambayev in Koi-Tash village. However, the storm failed. Atambayev's supporters did not let the special forces into the house of the former head of state. During the second detention attempt, riots broke out. Nearly 50 people were taken to hospitals in Bishkek and Chui region. One serviceman of the SCNS Special Forces received a gunshot wound. He died in a hospital. The head of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Chui region was broken his head. He's in a coma. Criminal cases were opened after riots in Koi-Tash.
