Lebanon thanks Kazakhstan for contribution to Syrian peace talks

AKIPRESS.COM - The Astana process is the only viable platform, where problems of Syrians are being resolved, especially the issue of returning refugees to their motherland, Ambassador of Lebanon to Kazakhstan Giscard El Khoury at the meeting with Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov on August 7 in the city of Nur-Sultan.
Kazakhstan welcomed joining of Lebanon as a new observer at the 13th round of the Syrian peace talks, EurAsia Daily reports.
The two discussed cooperation issues within the framework of the international organizations.
Lebanon is one of the first countries establishing diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan, the report says.
"Our countries are successfully developing political ties at a high level. Bilateral meetings of officials and business circles of our countries became more intensive," Atamkulov noted.
The Minister expressed gratitude to Lebanon for assistance to the Kazakh peacemaking battalion, which is on the territory of Lebanon.
