Tashkent, Aug.10, 2019. /Kabar/. Gastro Bazaar-2019 First International Gastronomic Festival started in Tashkent yesterday, Aug.9, the press service of the State Committee for Tourism Development of Uzbekistan reported.
The main purpose of the event is to further develop and popularize the gastronomic potential of Uzbekistan at the international level, as well as to develop international cooperation in the field of gastronomic tourism, to promote the recognition of the tourist brand of Uzbekistan, the formation of a positive image of the country abroad, the promotion of the country among potential foreign tourists as an attractive tourist destination.
The Gastro Bazaar-2019 is expected to be attended by international organizations, chefs and restaurant chains around the world, as well as representatives of domestic restaurants, cafes and catering companies.
At present Uzbekistan is recognized as the most popular direction of gastronomic tourism.
Inclusion of Uzbek pilaf in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO on Dec. 1, 2016, as well as preparation of 8-ton Uzbek pilaf at the festival of national culture on Sep. 8, 2017, and its inclusion in the Guinness World Records, was another reason to increase the interest of millions of people in Uzbekistan and Uzbek cuisine.
Today gastronomic tourism is recognized as the most dynamic and developing tourist destination of the world market. In general, the share of gastronomic tourism in the total income of the tourism industry reaches 30%, and this indicator has a significant growth.
