Atambayev not complaining on incarceration conditions — Torture Prevention Center

AKIPRESS.COM - Director of the Torture Prevention Center Nurdin Sulaimanov and acting governor of Chui region Mirlan Jakypov today visited the remand prison of the National Secretary Committee for monitoring of protection of rights of Almazbek Atambayev, conditions and torture freedom. According to Sulaimanov, Atambayev is kept alone in a 2-seat cell.
During the talk, he did not complain on activities of the administration of the remand prison and investigation bodies, Sulaimanov noted.
"He requested to assist in turning off the light in the cell during the night and closing the door for a better sleep. He said these are security measures for him," Sulaimanov said.
As a result of monitoring, the Center reported about normal conditions for Atambayev in the remand prison and recommends the GKNB leadership to consider his requests.
The Interior Ministry detained Atambayev on August 8 in his house in Koi-Tash village. He is accused of Aziz Batukayev case and Koi-Tash events on August 7. He is placed in the GKNB remand prison until August 26.
