97% of Naryn town residents provided with clean water

Bishkek, Aug.22, 2019. /Kabar/. 97% of Naryn town residents are provided with clean water, 40% have access to sewerage systems. This became known during the familiarization of Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov with the progress of the project to provide Naryn town with clean water and rehabilitation of sewerage systems, his press service reported.
Kokumbek Tashtanaliyev, the State Agency for Water Resources Director and Askarbek Toktoshev, the Director of the Department for Development of Drinking Water Supply and Wastewater Disposal said the project, implemented with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is aimed at modernizing drinking water supply systems and improving wastewater management in Naryn.
In total, the EBRD will provide €6.2 million for this purpose. Construction work on the project started in June 2018 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
They added that other projects on modernization of drinking water supply systems in Naryn Oblast are also being implemented with the assistance of the Swiss Confederation.
The President expressed gratitude to the international development partners for their assistance in the implementation of such social projects, which directly affect the life of the country's population.
He reminded that the issue of providing clean water to the residents of the regions is under his special control and is one of the main priorities of his presidential activity.
President Jeenbekov also inspected the new water management building in Naryn town.
