AKIPRESS.COM - The President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov issued a reprimand to the Chairperson of the Central Bank for disrupted ATM service and said that the banks have sufficient funds on August 19, Chronicles of Turkmenistan reports.
Correspondents of "Chronicles of Turkmenistan" report that despite this queues are still being formed in front of cash machines even in Ashgabat.
In remote areas the situation is even worse.
For instance, in Gudabag city of Dashoguz district people literally spend the night near cash machines. Each customer takes a Turkmen rug filled with сotton wool and a blanket.
ATMs deliver only a banknote of 100 manat during one transaction. To be able to withdraw the remaining amount people have to stand in the queue again.
The residents of the province are unable to withdraw their salaries, retirement allowances, children and disability allowances. Rural inhabitants have failed to obtain cash for silk cocoons and wheat harvest so far.
It is especially difficult for mothers with little children to stand in the queues along with other customers.
Residents of other district centres of Dashoguz velayat are experiencing the same constraints.
Meanwhile the Turkmen students doing a course of study in Belarus have again experienced problems with cash withdrawals from credit cards. According to the students, over the past week there have been some problems with cash withdrawals. When attempting to take out cash from an ATM, a message pops out which says that there are insufficient finds despite the fact that the funds are available when the balance is checked.
Students are assured by customer service of Vneshtorgbank (the State Bank of Turkmenistan for Foreign Economic Affairs) that the system is operational and that bank cards should be working.
The students have been previously allowed to withdraw up to $20 a day, but no more than $150-160 a month.
