Osh, Aug.22, 2019 /Kabar/. The signing of the Paris Declaration, calling for a complete end to the AIDS epidemic, took place in Osh yesterday, Aug. 21.
The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Mayor of Osh Nurbek Kadyrov, UNAIDS Country Director Meerim Sarybayeva, representative of the Public Health Department of Kyrgyz Ministry of Health Sharipa Suvanaliyeva, Director of the International Public Health Alliance Andrei Klepikov, heads of the Republican and Osh Regional AIDS Centers, representatives of international and non-governmental organizations.
The participants noted that the signing of this declaration will allow Osh to achieve a strategy of 90-90-90, which means that at least 90% of HIV-positive people should know about their status, at least 90% of people who know about their status should receive antiretroviral therapy, and 90% receiving treatment should have a suppressed viral load to enable them to live full lives and reduce their risk of HIV transmission.
Also Osh Regional AIDS Center Director Elmira Narmatova spoke about the ongoing comprehensive work with people in Osh Oblast living with HIV-positive status.
The Paris Declaration is a document that brings together the entire society in the response to HIV. Commitments in the Paris Declaration include the achievement of the 90-90-90 targets, which means that at least 90 per cent of people living with HIV should know their HIV status; at least 90 per cent of people who know their HIV status should receive ART; and at least 90 per cent of people receiving treatment should have a suppressed viral load to enable them to live full lives and reduce their risk of HIV transmission.
