Kyrgyz troops fire shots in air to prevent conflict escalation on Kyrgyz-Tajik border

AKIPRESS.COM - After Tajik citizens on border area started sparking a conflict last Saturday, the border services of Kyrgyzstan fired two shots in the air to prevent the escalation of the situation, Turmush reports. The State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan last week had reported that a group of Tajik locals gathered on August 24 protesting the construction of the Aksai - Kok-Tash road, which passes on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The protesters were claiming that the agreement between the Kyrgyz and Tajik sides says that the construction should have started on the Tajik territory first - on Bakay village, but not on the Kyrgyz side - Kok-Tash village.
After some explanatory works from the Tajik authorities, locals dispersed.
However, on the same day a conflict arose between residents of Borborduk village, Leilek district, Kyrgyzstan and Tajik locals. About 15-20 Tajik people demanded from a Kyrgyz man to stop building a fence around his house, claiming that his house is located on undescribed territory.
Upon arrival of Kyrgyz law enforcement officers to the conflict site, the Tajiks started throwing rocks at them. Then the soldiers fired 2 shots in the air to make those gathered disperse. The protesters dispersed.
