Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan becomes PM's advisor for migrant workers

AKIPRESS.COM - Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan Komil Rashidov has been appointed Prime Minister's advisor, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said. He will head the department for protection of rights and support of citizens of Uzbekistan temporarily working abroad.
Rashidov has been Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan since 2013. Prior to that appointment, he served as Deputy Foreign Minister.
According to unofficial estimates, at least 5 million citizens of Uzbekistan work abroad, mostly in Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey and South Korea.
According to the central bank of Uzbekistan, migrant workers from Russia transmitted $3.963 billion in 2018, which is for 1.4% more than in 2017.
