Tashkent, Sept.4, 2019. /Kabar/. Today, Sept. 4, 2019-2020 new academic year has begun in Uzbekistan.
According to the data of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of National Education, about 9900 public schools will accept children. The number of schools has increased by 213 compared to the last academic year.
Secondary schools in Uzbekistan are taught in seven languages: Uzbek, Russian, Karakalpak, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik and Turkmen. About 7 thousand ethnic Kyrgyz children living in Uzbekistan study in 55 Kyrgyz secondary schools.
This year more than 6.17 million students will study in schools. Of these, 620 thousand children will go to the first grade.
Today all schools of Uzbekistan will host events, dedicated to Knowledge Day. During the lessons of independence, students will learn about Uzbekistan's development over the past 28 years, the country's achievements and potential, and the reforms under way.
