Putin offers to rename Baiterek rocket complex in honor of Nazarbayev

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Russia Vladimir Putin proposed to name the Baiterek rocket and space complex, which was created for launch of Soyuz 6 and Soyuz 5 spacecraft from Baikonur site, in honor of the first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, Roscosmos reported. The complex will be called as "Nazarbayev start"
The proposal was made by Putin during the visit to the Kazakhstan pavilion at the VDNKH Expo with the first President Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Kazakhstan and Russia signed the agreement on creation of the new launch complex Baiterek at Baikonur on August 22, 2018. The first project was initiated in 2004.
The first launch from the space complex is scheduled for 2022.
