AKIPRESS.COM - Two days after President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov had signed a law on cyber security, the state information agency TDH reported on 8 September that by the end of 2019 Turkmenistan intends to launch a batch of computers under its own brand and plans to supply them to all countries of the Central Asian region, Chronicles of Turkmenistan reports.
In October 2018 the company "Agzybirlik Tilsimaty" founded by the "Centre for Computer Technologies" jointly with China-based Hengsheng Lianhua Investment Management Co. Ltd. and Tongfang Hongkong Limited was set up to manufacture computer equipment on the territory of Turkmenistan.
In 2019 over 80,000 training laptops for children have been produced by the enterprise, which were presented to the first graders as gifts on behalf of the President.
TDH highlights that a pilot batch of 3 thousand computers will be supplied whereas the annual estimated capacity of the factory is 500,000 computers, which will allow to execute the import substitution plan set by the President and launch re-export of the Turkmen brand.
"This means that computers under the Turkmen brand will be supplied to the neighbouring countries since "Agzybirlik Tilsimaty" is the only plant in Central Asia, which produces computers", - the report says.
The news outlet emphasizes that the manufacturing facility works in collaboration with Microsoft and Intel, which "recommended their customers in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan to purchase computers in Turkmenistan".
