Damage due to illegal cutting in Kyrgyzstan reaches KGS 4.4 mln

Bishkek, Sept.13, 2019. /Kabar/. As of Sept. 1, 2019, forest guards revealed 93 cases of violation of the natural legislation with the caused damage of KGS 5 million 414 thousand, Director of the Department of Forest Ecosystem Development Nurlan Zhumayev said at a press conference at Kabar Agency.
According to his data, the damage amounted to KGS 4 million 418 thousand by the facts for unauthorized cutting. "The number of cut down trees is 1692, the volume - 802 m3. 62 materials worth KGS 873 thousand have been collected," said Zhumayev.
He also added since the beginning of the year, 16 cases of forest fires have been registered on the territory of the State Forestry Fund on the area of 103 hectares. "The fire covered 2.6 hectares and caused damage of KGS 221.5 thousand," the department director informed.
