More than 800 facial recognition cameras set up as part of 1st phase of Safe City

AKIPRESS.COM - More than 800 CCTVs with facial recognition function have been established as part of the first phase of the Safe City, participants of the session of the anti-corruption council of the government of Kyrgyzstan said. According to Prime Minister Muhamedkaliy Abilgaziyev, reduction of road accidents by 46.9% has been observed on the territories, where these cameras are set up compared to the last year.
A number of traffic accidents fell in Chui region as well, he said.
In this regard, Abilgaziyev said the government thinks that the project helps reduce not only the number of road accidents, but also corruption cases, organization of traffic movement and pedestrians.
The PM said the second phase of the project will cover all territory of the country - 7 regions, 2 cities, 15 towns and 73 rural communities.
The State Information Technologies and Telecommunications Committee on Sept 16 said that the Chinese company Shenzhen Sunwin Intelligent Co. Ltd won the tender for the implementation of the second stage of Safe City project.
