AKIPRESS.COM - The issue of construction of a bridge at Shamalgan station has always been considered, but it is too expensive for the budget now, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar told on Monday. A bridge will be built there but later, he noted.
"65 trains annually pass through this crossing. A vehicular movement exceeds 10,000 cars. A build and an overbridge should be built there. However, to build a bridge at this site requires demolition of about 70 private houses and two gas stations, which will lead to huge costs for the budget. Therefore, this railway crossing was eqiupped with additional tools that prevent accidents," Sklyar said.
The Ministry plans to start designing and construction of an overbridge next year, he noted.
On September 15, a high-speed train hit a bus at the railway crossing killing one and injuring three in Almaty region. Later after accident, dozens of locals demanded to build a bridge at the crossing. They claimed that this was not the first accident.
