AKIPRESS.COM - A group of residents from Leilek district of Batken region, who rallied today in Bishkek, put their demands forward at the meeting with the leadership of Pervomay district administration. The activists during the meeting voiced their requirements for authorities.
According to deputy head of the district Mavlyan Askarbekov, the are demanding:
- to create a state commission consisting of former governor of Batken region Mamat Aibalayev, aksakals (elders) of the region, representatives of residents, activists, members of local councils, journalists;
- to consider issue of transfer of the aviation base located in Kant town to Batken region;
- to provide objective and accurate information to citizens on media;
- to consider and stop smuggling of goods from Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan through the territory of Batken region;
- the work of commission on delimitation and demarcation of border should be open and transparent;
- to consider the issue of granting a special status to Batken region, appointment of a new strong-willed governor. To consider the issue of expansion of governor's competence on demarcation, delimitation of borders and land issues.
- to consider the issue of allocation and distribution of land plots on bordering areas of Batken region to residents of the region for free. To resolve watering issue, electrification and other issues.
