AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek faced issues with traffic lights installed 7 years ago after it became known that the municipal road maintenance employees could not find the keys from the control boxes of two traffic lights.
Those traffic lights were installed on the Fuchika-Chui and Den Syaopin-Intergelpo street intersections in 2012. The maintenance worker locked the boxes and left. The problem was addressed at the Bishkek local council session on Sept 18.
The traffic lights on the current streets were installed by the JICA. "They developed a program, analyzed and checked the operating mode. This program is the intellectual property of Japan. We appealed to them, they say that we should call a specialist who will fix the system," he said.
Bishkek local council members asked to resolve this issue.
Traffic lights were designed to reduce the delay time at the intersection.
