Political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Morocco were held in Ashgabat, Trend reports on Sept. 24 with reference to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The delegation of Morocco was headed by Secretary of State at the Foreign Ministry of the country Mounia Boucetta.
The parties agreed to intensify cooperation in the political, trade, economic and cultural spheres.
Diplomats spoke about the importance of organizing high-level bilateral visits and noted the similarity of positions on topical issues on the international agenda. The possibilities of expanding the trade and economic partnership, as well as partnership in the field of energy, textile and chemical industries, and agriculture were considered.
The sides noted the necessity of organizing joint business forums and cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, horse breeding and carpet weaving.
In a letter to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in October 2017, King of Morocco Mohammed VI expressed confidence that the existing relations of brotherhood and mutual respect between Morocco and Turkmenistan will continue to strengthen and develop on the basis of mutually beneficial cooperation in the interests of the two peoples.
Stressing the important role of cooperation with African states earlier, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry expressed its commitment to development of relations with the African Union.
The African Union, established on July 9, 2002, is an international intergovernmental organization uniting 55 African states.
