‘Our democracy is in process of development’ - Tokayev at UN General Assembly debate

AKIPRESS.COM - While delivering his speech at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the democracy in Kazakhstan is in process of development and requires a regular scrutiny, the UN News reports. Among the list of priority areas of work of the Kazakh government, the head of state outlined a peace without nuclear weapon, preventive diplomacy, fighting terrorism, expansion of regional cooperation, economic development and strengthening democracy.
Kazakhstan plays an active role in peacebuilding of the UN, Tokayev said.
The head of state noted that Kazakhstan became a platform for peaceful talks on resolution of the Syrian crisis.
"My formula for political system of Kazakhstan is a strong president, influencial parliament and accountable government," the President said.
