School buses must be introduced in Bishkek to ensure safe transportation of children. And if the state and the City Administration are not able to do it, the educational institutions themselves can do this, said Chinara Kasmambetova, Director of Road Safety NGO.
"Unfortunately, this cannot be done through public services. Maybe the schools themselves could arrange transportation of their students. Such a mechanism has long been working at private schools. There is another financing, of course, but parents pay various fees at state schools. Maybe, we can invite them to arrange transport for children," she said to 24.kg news agency, commenting on the situation.
Chinara Kasmambetova added that she herself was a parent. And she was ready to pay for school bus services.
"I still try to take my child to school, because the conditions in public minibuses do not satisfy me at all. These are hygiene, safety, attitude of other passengers issues. Children are pushed, shouted at. All this does not meet any standards," she said.
After the accident in Kun-Tuu village, where a fifth-grader died under the wheels of bus No. 18, people started talking about introduction of school buses.
