AKIPRESS.COM - The first Vice Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Berik Sholpankulov claimed that the Ministry did not approve the economic justification of the project on construction of light rail network in Nur-Sultan, which is criticised by Presodent, Tengrinews.kz reported. "The economic justification on the LRT project of the Ministry of Finance was not approved due to requirements of the law, administrator himself claims," Sholpankulov said during the press conference following the Senate session.
According to him, the Ministry was not participating in a financial calculations of the project.
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev earlier called the LRT project in the capital city as "doubtful" and ordered the anti-corruption service to intensify investigation of embezzlement of funds meant for construction of the project.
Mayor of Nur-Sultan Altai Kulginov noted that now it is too late to refuse from the project and explained why.
