AKIPRESS.COM - The ceremony of awarding the academic title - Doctor Honoris Causa of Hirosaki University to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in Tokyo on a working visit, took place at Chinzanso Tokyo Hotel, Turkmen media reported.
University professors and students of Hirosaki University and the other higher educational institutions in Japan, the representatives of the Association for Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan, and the members of the official delegation of our country attended the ceremony.
On behalf of all those present, President of Hirosaki University Sato Kei cordially greeted the President of Turkmenistan and emphasized that this meeting had marked a new stage in the development of bilateral relations in the humanitarian sphere and, first of all, in the sphere of science.
In the solemn atmosphere, under the storm of applause of all those present, the diploma on the academic title - Doctor Honoris Causa of Hirosaki University was awarded to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the personal contribution to the development of Turkmen-Japanese relations, science and education.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the staff of the leading scientific and educational center of Japan for conferring the high rank. "I consider this award as a sign of respect for Turkmenistan, the recognition of our country's achievements in the sphere of science and education, the evidence of friendship and strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries".
President underlined the fundamental role of science and education in the development of a society and state, specifying the investments into a person as the most promising one of all types of investments.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed hope that this figure would increase in the future. In this regard, the President suggested to develop a programme for training Turkmen students in educational centers in Japan, taking into account the requirements of the economy and social sphere. Turkmenistan, in turn, is ready to invite Japanese students to Turkmenistan.
