AKIPRESS.COM - Interior Minister Kashkar Junushaliyev told the chronology of events in Koi-Tash village on August 7-8 in an interview with AKIpress.
On August 6, Junushaliyev said he was in Solton-sary gold mine in Naryn region, where clashes between locals and Chinese miners occurred on Aug 5. "We restored order there, talked to the locals, and ensured safety for Chinese citizens."
On August 7, Junushaliyev received a call that a shootout occurred in upper Bishkek. His then deputy Kursan Asanov was ordered to immediately head to the spot to ensure public safety. "Then I took off to Bishkek, arrived in Koi-Tash village at 12:30 am August 8. The roads were blocked there," he said. He also said that he called his another deputy Almaz Kydyraliyev, who was in Balykchy for OSCE trainings. He also arrived on the scene at 10:40 pm already to help Kursan Asanov. "Now investigation is under way why nothing was done before Kydyraliyev's arrival. When I arrived on the scene I decided to return all the troops back to city, because it was too dark and risky, I had no right to risk my people's lives and health. The troops were returned to Bishkek to maintain order," he said.
Junushaliyev said he did not know about the special operation by the National Security Committee on August 7 in koi-Tash. Answering a question why the Interior Ministry troops worked in Koi-Tash on August 8, but not the GKNB, Junushaliyev said that the functions of the police are to maintain public order and they were there to fulfill their duty.
Junushaliyev said that he arrived in Koi-Tash at 3:30 pm on August 8 and was there until 7 pm. He left the village with former president Almazbek Atambayev. He said during the negotiations with Atambayev, he did not see his deputy Kursan Asanov.
"I had negotiations with Atambayev twice. I told him that if he wanted to stay, he could stay. I explained him that he is a criminal for me today, because there were injured and killed. I told him that I don't want people around him to be hurt. Then he told be "Kashkar baike, I am not coming." Then I told him that I will storm his house anyway. Then Atambayev came out with me," Junushaliyev said.
