Third Mongolia-Czech consular consultative meeting held

AKIPRESS.COM - The 3rd consular consultative meeting between the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Mongolia and the Czech Republic took place on October 24 in Ulaanbaatar city, Montsame reports.
State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs D.Davaasuren headed Mongolian delegation while Deputy Minister for Legal and Consular Affairs Martin Smolek led Czech delegates.
The sides noted that effective changes have been made in protecting interest of citizens of the two countries and consular relations and cooperation thanks to creating this special mechanism to discuss consular affairs starting from 2017. In particular, the sides eliminated barriers that Mongolian citizens used to encounter when applying for Czech and Schengen visas and created favorable condition.
During the meeting, the sides shared views on issues such as increasing the number of Mongolian citizens who are working in Czech (some 1000) to be involved in labor contract within ‘Regime Mongolia' program being implemented by the Czech Government and ensuring their social guarantee.
They also exchanged information on progress of validation of an intergovernmental agreement on social protection which was signed during Foreign Minister D.Tsogtbaatar's visit to the Czech Republic made in May 2019, as well as on fighting transnational organized crimes such as illegal turnover of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, money laundering, terrorism and cyberterrorism and discussed cooperation possibilities.
Around 9700 Mongolian citizens or the most of Mongolians who are living in EU member states are in the Czech Republic and having regular meetings and special talks on consular issues with the Czech side is significant to protect interest of Mongolian citizens living in the country.
