Lawmaker outraged by lack of financing of cultural sphere in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - Chairman of the parliamentary committee on social issues, education, science, culture and healthcare Sadyk Sher-Niyaz at the session today said that the government of Kyrgyzstan allocates too little to the cultural sphere. According to the law on culture, the funding should be at least 3% in this sphere, Sher-Niyaz noted.
Currently, the funding in cultural sphere does not exceed 1.3%.
"A lot of problems of the government in the country are due to the lack of spiritual culture," Sher-Niyaz said.
The lawmaker noted that despite the lack of funding in all other spheres, the 3%-funding in the cultural sphere should be approved by a draft law.
