AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan and Russia agreed on creation of the Baiterek space rocket complex at the Baikonur cosmodrome, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
The agreement between the countries also provides termination of lease of some part of facilities of the cosmodrome and handover to the Kazakh side.
The Mazhilis members on Octover 30 passed the draft law on ratification of the protocol on amendments to the agreement between the governments of Kazakhstan and Russia on creation of Baiterek space rocket complex at Baikonur.
The protocol was signed in Moscow on August 22, 2018 and provides the main conditions of implementation of the projects on use of a space rocket complex.
According to the protocol, the Russian side provides funding of creation of the rocket launcher. The Kazakh side finances modernization of the existing ground-based space infrastructure of the cosmodrome Baikonur. The document offers termination of the lease of Zenit-M facilities and handover of them to the Kazakh side.
