170 law enforcement officers died in fight aganst crime over independence years: President Jeenbekov

AKIPRESS.COM - 170 law enforcement officers died in the fight against crime over the independence years, said President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said at the event on the 95th anniversary of the Kyrgyz militia on November 1. "Some state institutions were weakened with the Soviet collapse in 90s. A number of kidnappings, hostage taking cases, contract murders, drug-dealing, arms trafficking increased. During these tough times, the law enforcement officers continue to ensure public security and held activities combating crimes and banditism," said Jeenbekov.
"All officers who died in the performance of duty are heroes of our time, heroes who devoted their lives for interest of nation and its future," said Jeenbekov.
