Nur-Sultan, Almaty among leaders on number of radical islamists

AKIPRESS.COM - There are more than 20,000 followers of destructive religious ideologies in Kazakhstan according to the experts of anti-terrorist center, deputy vhief of the anti-terrorist center, colonel of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan Sergey Shveikin said.
According to him, most of them are registered in Atyrau, South Kazakhstan, Aktobe, Karaganda regions, Almaty and Nur-Sultan cities, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
"Therefore, our main task is improvement of religious situation both in more vulnerable regions and in the country as a whole," he noted.
Another important task of specialists in the religious sphere is criminalization of the state program on fighting religious extremism and terrorism in Kazakhstan for 2018-2022.
A lot of Kazakhstanis leaving the country for armed conflicts died. Some of them were deported to homeland.
