Kazakhstan tightens punishment for poaching up to 12 years of imprisonment

AKIPRESS.COM - Authorities toughened the punishment for violation of the environmental legaislation and poaching in Kazakhstan, Informburo.kz reported.
According to Vice Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Erlan Nysanbayev, environmental violation will be punished by confiscation of property. Foreigners and persons without citizenship might be jailed up to 12 years in prison.
The last amendments to the law on agricultural complex increased the signs of violation of environmental legislation and illegal poaching.
Poachers will face more severe punishment for illegal trafficking of derivatives of saigas and some endangered fish.
To toughen the punishment for poaching was proposed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in July 2019 after murder of environmental inspectors by poachers.
