AKIPRESS.COM - Famous French actor Gerard Depardieu arrived in Tashkent in connecting with shooting of the documentary about Uzbekistan, where he visited the Islamic Civilization Center. The actor noted importance of the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to convey true basic ideas of Islam to the world community, Uzbek film agency said.
"I share the position of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who initiated establishment of this center. Your country worships sacred religion as concentration of humanistic values and condemn those tho put this belief in one row with violence and bloodshed. I fully support such approach. Many experts said Uzbekistan is building the foundations of the humanistic models for development of the Muslim world. These are truly historic moments," Gerard Depardieu said.
The actor underlined Uzbekistan is the land where genius thinkers and theologians were born since ancient times.
While talking about being built Islamic Civilization Center, the actor expressed confidence it will help safeguarding, study and spread of the richest heritage of nations practicing Islam and retaining a respectful attitude to other religions.
The actor was admired by hospitality of Uzbek people and the richest historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
