AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin attended the 16th Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia in Omsk, the president's press service reports. The forum is a venue for discussion of areas of cooperation between the regions of Russia and Kazakhstan, enhancement of bilateral relations, diversification of business contacts, contacts between government officials and businesses of two counries.
Kasym-Jomart Tokayev positively valued the growing bilateral cooperation in energy, oil and gas sectors.
"More than 500 million tons of oil were pumped by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium via Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline to the world market. The Consortium is efficient from perspective of synergy obtained through consolidation of efforts of our countries and attraction of quality foreign investors. Our companies jointly develop the Kazakh fields Tengiz, Korolevskoye, Karachaganak, cross-border deposits Khvalynskoye, Tsentralnoye and Kurmangazy," Tokayev said.
Vladimir Putin suggested to pay attention to improvement of border infrastructure, increase of capacity of border crossing points between Russia and Kazakhstan.
"The Russian side is interested in deepening of industrial cooperation in border areas, establishment of joint ventures. There are positive examples of such cooperation in place, including construction of oil refinery in Orenburg region, development of Vesenne-Aralchinskoye copper deposit," President Putin said.
