AKIPRESS.COM - Most of the attackers on the Tajik border outpost were citizens of Tajikistan, natives of the northern parts of the country, Tajik Interior Ministry's spokesperson Umarjon Emomali said.
The spokesperson has not specified the concrete area in the north of the country. He said there were women among gunmen, Asia-Plus reports.
"The criminal probe was launched into the attack on the border outpost by the General Prosecutor's Office of Tajikistan," he said.
A source in the General Prosecutor's Office said the criminal probe was launched under charges of terrorism, murder, illegal border crossing.
The State National Security Committee of Tajikistan said the Tajik border outpost on Tajik-Uzbek border was attacked by a group of 20 armed gunmen. 15 of them were killed, 5 were captivated. One Tajik police officer and border guard were killed.
The Afghan side earlier refuted the report of the Tajik national security agency saying the group intruded into Tajikistan from the territory of Afghanistan.
