Asian World Film Festival becomes victory after failure of Queen of the Mountains to win Oscar — Sadyk Sher-Niyaz

AKIPRESS.COM - The founder of the Asian World Film Festival Sadyk Sher-Niyaz during the conversation with the audience told about creation of the Festival in Los Angeles. According to him, the Asian World Film Festival became the main victory after failure of the film Kurmanjan Datka Queen of the Mountains to win the Oscar.
"If my film Kurmanjan Datka won Oscar, this Festival would not emerge. Now I think that this is a real victory," Sher-Niyaz noted.
The director believes that thousands of people won the Oscar, but being one of them is not that much honor. The greater honor is to create something for own people, which changes the country and people for better, he said.
Sher-Niyaz also noted that films should not be shot for festivals, they should rather be created for the people.
The fifth International Asian Film Festival has recntly opened in Los Angeles.
The chair of the jury has become star of the Turkish TV series Magnificent Century Meryem Sarah Uzerli (playing the role of Hurrem Sultan).
The opening ceremony of the Festival was attended by expats living in the United States, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to U.S. Bolot Otunbayev.
