AKIPRESS.COM - Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Erbolat Dosayev said that there will be no single currency in the Eurasian Economic Union, Zakon.kz reports.
"The agreement says that the idea was to create an economic union, but it does not propose to create a currency union. Therefore, I understand that the talks are going aroud this issue in various forms and formats. I say that creation of the single currency and the currency union is not provided in the agreement," Dosayev said at the meeting of the Mazhilis.
The chief of the regulator noted that the National Bank as a regulator in cooperation with the Agency on Regulation and Supervision of Financial Market have the authority to hold a monetary and credit policy, provide financial stability, take the necessary anti-crisis measures and so on.
Dosayev added that the financial sovereignty of each EAEU member state is preserved.
Reports on alleged devaluation and introduction of the single currency on the territory of the EAEU appeared this year on social media. The information was denied by Minister of Finance of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov this July. He said that Kazakhstan preserves its national currency.
