AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the session on development of Akmola region said that the government and regional authorities should take into consideration the opinion of the locals, who are against the field development of manganese ores near the Zhaksy village, Informburo.kz reports.
"The issue of implementation of the project on construction of the plant on extracting manganes ores are being actively discussed in Zhaksy. Locals are totally against the development of the deposit. Regional authorities and government should take the population's opinion into account," he said.
The company Zhaksylyk plans to extract manganes ores in the village of Zhaksy within 5 years. Locals are claiming that the mining will harm the environment and negatively affect the people's health.
Due to the confrontations between locals and the mining company, the situation is tense in the village.
