Jailed former MP Sadyr Japarov asks president for mercy

AKIPRESS.COM - Ex-MP Sadyr Japarov asked president for mercy, said his attorney Sharabidin Toktosunov.
On October 15, the defense team asked President Sooronbai Jeenbekov for mercy.
"During this period of time, my father and my mother died of sorrow. Recently, my son Dastan has died. My relatives are in very serious condition today. In this connection, I ask for mercy and release me from prison," he said.
Japarov was arrested on March 25, 2017 on suspicion of the organization of violent protests in October 2013 in Issyk-Kul region.
He was handed 11.6 years in prison on August 2, 2017 for murder attempt, coup attempt, hooliganism and taking former governor of Issyk-Kul region Emil Kaptagayev hostage. Bishkek city court and Supreme Court upheld the sentence. Later, his prison term was shortened from 11.6 years to 10 years in prison.
