AKIPRESS.COM - Tajikistan has received over $89 million from electricity exports to the neighboring states in 9 months of this year.
Electricity exports grew by 21% or for more than $16 million compared to the previous year, Avesta reports with reference to power companies.
The power companies have not specified what amount of electricity was exported to the neighboring states. They just said electricity was exported to Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Tajikistan exported more than 2.4 billion kWh of electricity in 2018 and earned around $77 million, according to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources.
Last year electricity was exported to Afghanistan at 4.11 cents for 1 kWh, electricity was exported to Uzbekistan at 2 cents.
Since the beginning of the year Tajikistan produced more than 17 billion kWh of electricity, which is for 5.2% more than in 2018.
