'Children always have special place in our nation’s history' – Parliament Speaker

AKIPRESS.COM - Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Jumabekov welcomed young Kyrgyzstanis participating in the parliament session dedicated to Universal Children's Day and 30th anniversary of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on Nov 20. Jumabekov noted that Kyrgyzstan ratifies the UN Convention in 1994 and accepted obligations to protect children. This year, the fruitful cooperation with the UNICEF is ongoing, he said.
"The children always have a special place in the nation's history, boys and girls always were full members of family and society. The adoption and implementation of the Convention gave a special status and significance to children's situation. The children became the right subject," said speaker.
The youth issues are always in spotlight of government, and parliament is contributed to the implementation of children rights.
Jumabekov added that Kyrgyzstan allocate one-time state benefits for childbirth and funds for parents raising children with disabilities.
