AKIPRESS.COM - The General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan rejected a request of the anti-corruption service, which appealed against termination of case against deputy governor of Almaty region Bagdat Manzorov, Deputy Prosecutor General Marat Akhmetzhanov said.
"No one can influence the process of investigation. If there is no a body of evidence or event crime or if evidence was illegally found, it should be stopped. I legally say that the prosecutor's office suspended the criminal case that was appealed by the anti-corruption service. Their complaint was not satisfied," Akhmetzhanov noted.
In late September 2019, the first deputy head of the anti-corruption service of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov reported that deputy governor of Almaty region Bagdat Manzorov was arrested for large scale fraud and power abuse.
Later, the General Prosecutor's Office terminated the criminal case against Manzorov claiming no body of crime was detected. The anti-corruption service decided to appeal the decision of the General Prosecutor's Office.
The situation around Manzorov has led to the confrontations of the anti-corruption service and the General Prosecutor's Office of the country. The case sparked a public outcry and gives rise to different rumors.
