AKIPRESS.COM - The modernization process of checkpoints between Kazakhstan and Russia will not occur fast, Deputy Chief of Staff of the President of Kazakhstan Timur Suleimenov said, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
"This decision was taken by Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan at the Omsk forum and now the state bodies will be accountable for its implementation. I don't think that it will be fast, as it requires money from both Russian and Kazakh sides. But the most important is that the political decision was already taken and it will be realized," Suleimenov said.
The longest land border passes between the two countries with multiple border checkpoints, but not all of them are properly equipped.
Therefore, the sides decided to adopt a program on transformation and modernization of the border crossings.
