'What will happen to 142 Kazakhstani students in Hong Kong is unknown' — MFA

AKIPRESS.COM - The fate of 142 students from Kazakhstan studying in Hong Kong remains uknown, as they are not registered in the Consulate Register, the Astana TV channel reports with reference to spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Aibek Smadiyarov.
According to Smadiyarov, the 19-year-old Kazakh student of the Hong Kong Baptist University Nukpi Abilkair was detained by police because he was holding a Molotov cocktail during the clash.
The student will stay in custody until the second court hearing, Smadiyarov noted.
"He did not communicate with his peers. He was very closed person. He did not come to the event organized by diplomats," the spokesman noted.
Protests in Hong Kong have been lasted for 5 months. A lot of universities proposed local students to temporarily switch over to the distance learning and foreigners to return home.
