AKIPRESS.COM - Some 660 schools in Kyrgyzstan have been connected to Internet, this is one third of schools of the country, Education Ministry's senior specialist Marlen Alishev said. "Schools are connected to fiber optic Internet, which means a high Internet speed," he said.
The specialist noted geographic, climate, weather difficulties in some parts of the country where 35 schools are not connected to Internet yet.
A part of schools was connected to Internet by the Ministry of Education, another part by various providers, Alishev said.
"The Ministry of Education was not the first to start connection of schools to Internet. Rural municipalities began working on that a long time ago. 671 schools in Kyrgyzstan were connected to Kyrgyzstan by local authorities before the Ministry of Education stepped in. They have been connected by various providers, some schools have a good Internet speed, others don't. We would like to have one standard for all schools, high-speed Internet. Such task has been set. Technical analysis of these schools is carried out now," he explained.
